Ancient Yoga is broken down into four primary categories wiz, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Raja Yoga.
But today yoga as an exercise and healthy practice, can be categorized mainly into hatha yoga, power yoga and bikram yoga. Hatha yoga is the most commonly practiced yoga today which stresses the importance of mind and body. Power yoga is more aerobic style yoga, with an emphasis on cardio. Bikram yoga is a yoga style performed in a hot atmosphere for faster detoxification.

It is important that you understand each of these yoga styles before you join a yoga class. Discuss your purpose of joining the yoga class with your yoga master before you start. Example, if you are trying to loose weight through yoga, then a power yoga which is more of aerobic style might suit best for you. If you are interested in yoga because you need more mind control then hata yoga may be the best one for you.

Meditation is a time honored technique that helps to calm your mind, and keep stress at bay. It relaxes our tensed muscles and eliminates the harmful stress hormones that pile up to cause anxiety. Meditation keeps our mind focused on problematic factors, and helps us to find ways of dealing with stressful situations, calmly.

The main advantage of this practice is that it can be done easily anywhere and anytime. You just need to focus your mind on an object or sound with the help of mental imagery or soothing chants. Meditation can be a very refreshing and pleasant way of stress-management.
