Types of Yoga

Do you know how many types of yoga exists? Ancient Yoga is broken down into four primary categories wiz, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Raja Yoga.
But today yoga as an exercise and healthy practice, can be categorized mainly into hatha yoga, power yoga and bikram yoga. Hatha yoga is the most commonly practiced yoga today which stresses the importance of mind and body. Power yoga is more aerobic style yoga, with an emphasis on cardio. Bikram yoga is a yoga style performed in a hot atmosphere for faster detoxification.

It is important that you understand each of these yoga styles before you join a yoga class. Discuss your purpose of joining the yoga class with your yoga master before you start. Example, if you are trying to loose weight through yoga, then a power yoga which is more of aerobic style might suit best for you. If you are interested in yoga because you need more mind control then hata yoga may be the best one for you.

Namaste is a gesture to greet another individual with respect. Namaste means I bow to you.”"Nama” means bow, “as” means I, and “te” means you. hence, the literal meaning of the word Namaste is “I bow to you.” But the gesture Namaste is more than just a greeting. It shows utmost respect to the other soul which originates deep from the heart.
